Final Blog Post – Reflecting on the Blogging Experience

When I first started this blog series, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m not the most tech-savvy person, and writing blogs each week felt a little outside my comfort zone. But now, after completing ten posts, I can honestly say that this has been one of the more meaningful assignments I’ve done in college. Writing these blogs has helped me clarify my own beliefs about physical education and forced me to put those ideas into words in a way that makes sense to others. That’s a skill I know I’ll use in the classroom, when I’m explaining new games, skills, or rules to students, or even when I’m advocating for PE to parents and administrators.

One thing I really liked about the blog assignment was how open-ended it was. I had the freedom to talk about topics I cared about, like inclusivity, inappropriate practices, and fitness testing. These are real issues in our field that don’t always get enough attention. Writing about them gave me a chance to think through my own teaching philosophy and how I want to approach my future classes. It wasn’t just about listing information; it was about taking a stand on what I think good teaching looks like.

That said, there were also challenges. Sometimes I felt like I was repeating myself, especially when talking about grading and assessment. But even in those moments, I realized that repetition happens because these topics are important. It also helped me practice explaining similar ideas in different ways. Another thing I found a bit difficult was figuring out how formal or informal to be. I wanted my voice to sound like me, but I also wanted the content to be professional and clear. That balance was a good skill to practice.

After doing this, I can definitely see how blogging could be useful in a professional setting. For teachers, it’s a great way to reflect, share strategies, and connect with others in the field. Schools or companies could also use blogs to keep families informed, showcase classroom activities, or build a positive online presence. For customers or clients in other industries, a blog can build trust and offer valuable insights. It’s a simple, low-cost way to communicate ideas and show what your values are.

In the end, this assignment helped me grow as both a writer and an educator. I got to explore my passion for physical education while learning how to organize and express my thoughts clearly. I’m walking away from this blog series with a stronger sense of who I want to be as a teacher, and that’s more than I expected from a weekly writing task. Thanks for reading.
